Auguri! Buon Anno Nuovo!!!

Welcome to the first edition of Lo Stivale for 2011! I hope you had a great Christmas and enjoyed the time with your friends and family! 2011; what a year and lots to look forward to: the 20:20 World Cup, the Royal Wedding (including the extra Bank Holiday) and all the celebrations for the 150 year anniversary of the formation of the Italian Republic to name but a few!

In this edition we visit the region of Calabria, with an introduction to its history from Gianni, and a report from our wine expert, Giuseppe, introducing us to the wine delights of the region. In keeping with the theme of the Calabria region, Gaby takes a look at the life of one of its most famous characters, the late Gianni Versace.

In this edition we also are honoured to have a debut article from Erminio Gazza, ex-CSIdF President and honourary club member on the porcini mushroom. We have a review of our Thriller Night by Andrea Toscani and lots of photos to scare you! I follow up on a series of articles kicked off in the last edition on the history of the Club whilst Jackie Sidoli tells us what some representatives of AC
Finchley got up to on the Emigranti Tour in the summer (although it seems so long ago!).

Marco introduces us to some of Italy’s most famous bike races and in this edition we also have a special game for children! Angelica looks at… and Maria reviews 2010 and gives an insight to what we should look forward to in 2011.
